To compete in the "Miss" category, you must:
- Must be at least 17 by contestant's first Local Pageant but no older than 24. Must not turn 25 before Dec 31st 2018.
- Single, never been married, and have no children.
- Live, work full-time, or attend school full time in Maryland.
- Be at least a high school senior.
- Must be a US Citizen
- Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America Organization.
- Be able to meet the time commitment and responsibilities as set forth by the local program in which you compete.
- Be able to meet the time commitment and responsibilities as set forth by the Miss Maryland program should you win the title.
- Should you win a local title, raise $250.00 for the Miss America National Platform: Children's Miracle Network.
To compete in the "Teen" category, you must:
- Be a young lady between the ages of 13 and 17
- Be a United States citizen.
- Meet residency requirements for competing in a Maryland.
- Meet character criteria as set forth by the Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Organization.
- Be in reasonably good health to meet the job requirements.
- Be able to meet the time commitment and responsibilities as set forth by the local program in which you compete.
- Meet the $100 local sponsorship fee payable to the Community Foundation of Carroll County
- Must not be eligible to compete in the Miss America Competition.
To compete in the "Pre-Teen" category, you must:
- Contestants must be at least 10 yrs old and no older than 12 years old as of April 28, 2018.
- Meet the $100 sponsorship fee payable to the Community Foundation of Carroll County
- Contestants must be residents of the State of Maryland

Competition Information
The Miss Competition consists of the following phases of competition:
The Teen Competition has the same phases of competition as the Miss, except for Evening Gown and Onstage Question are combined scores for a total 25%.
Please note that as of 2015 the Teen talent presentation has dropped from 2 minutes to 1 minute and 30 seconds.
All contestants will need:
An Evening Gown of their choice suitable for their age group, with heels and appropriate jewelry.
An interview outfit of their choice with appropriate shoes and jewelry.
All required items for the talent costume.
Miss Contestants will need a swimsuit of any color, either two piece or one pice is acceptable. Nude heels are recommended, as well as appropriate jewelry.
Teen contestants will need athletic leggings that reach the mid calf, and a suitable tank top or shirt, as well as sneakers for Lifestyle and Fitness.
Opening Number outfits will be announced via email to contestants.
The Miss Competition consists of the following phases of competition:
- Talent- Worth 35% of the total score, this competition is to showcase the talent, presence, confidence, entertainment factor, and skill of our contestants. The Miss Talent competition is limited to 1 minute and 30 seconds total.
- Evening Gown-Worth 20% of the total score, this competition examines the confidence, overall poise, and radiance of each contestant. The choice of gown is your choice, and the gown is not judged, only the girl wearing it!
- Interview- Worth 25% of the total score, this phase of the competition is to judge the public speaking skills, confidence, personality, and commitment to service of each contestant. Personal beliefs and opinions are not judged.
- Onstage Question- Worth 5% of the total score, this competition is to show the public speaking skills and confidence of each young women in front of an audience.
- Lifestyle and Fitness- Worth 15% of the total score, this phase of competition is all about fitness and confidence. There is no "pageant" body-type, we only look for healthy lifestyles and tone, as well as confidence, personality, and fun!
